What we build.

Our work falls into four categories. Every project is custom, drawn by an architect, and built to that drawing.

New architectural home
New Architectural Homes

Beautiful homes designed by architects, built to the architect's drawings without value-engineering the design out of them. Most of our new builds are single-residence projects between 300 and 700 square metres, often on sloping or coastal sites, frequently involving in-situ concrete, masonry, structural steel, complex glazing, and custom joinery throughout.

Past work includes three-level concrete houses with internal pools, single-level houses on coastal sites, and multi-level homes carved into Auckland's volcanic topography.

Renovation — Herne Bay
Renovations & Additions

Additions to existing homes - typically character or heritage properties where the new work needs to sit alongside the original without compromising either. This is some of the most demanding work we do, because the existing building dictates tolerances and the new build has to respond to what's already there.

Recent examples: a two-level concrete addition with roof garden to a heritage villa in St Mary's Bay (Jack McKinney Architect); a new basement garage and addition to a villa in Freemans Bay (Knight Associates); a full renovation of a 1970s Cook Hitchcock-designed home in Remuera (Architectus).

Tantalus Estate — Waiheke Island
Venues, Hospitality & Commercial

Architecturally-led commercial work where the finish quality is closer to residential than to standard fit-out. Our most recognised project in this category is Tantalus Estate on Waiheke Island - a vineyard and restaurant designed by Cheshire Architects, completed to a level the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards judges described as a setting and detailing standard rarely brought together.

We take on this work selectively, where the brief matches what we're built for.

Off-site project
Off-Site & Off-Grid

Projects beyond Auckland, including remote sites with limited access, off-grid services, and logistics that have to be planned before the first delivery. Past work includes a luxury fishing lodge in Hawkes Bay (Andy Coltart) and the Tantalus Estate build on Waiheke Island.

This work requires a different operational approach - staging, accommodation, and supply chain planning all factor in before construction begins.

/05  How We Run a Project

How a project runs with us.

01 Early engagement

We're brought in during design development. We review drawings, identify constructability risks, and provide initial cost feedback before the project goes to consent.

02 Pre-construction

Detailed methodology, subcontractor selection, programme, and a full cost breakdown. Variations are minimised at this stage by working them out before we break ground, not during.

03 Construction

Dedicated foreman on site for the duration of the build. Weekly programme updates. Open-book variation tracking. Direct line to Willie and the foreman for the client and architect.

04 Handover and beyond

Once the build is complete, we remain available for anything that needs attention. Teething issues are handled actively, not reactively, with Willie and the team only a phone call away when something comes up.
